House Passes Gun Control HR-8 with help from Florida Republicans

The far left which currently controls our federal government, is coming after your guns. See: “A look at Democrats HR-8 Universal Background Checks Bill“.

The first step on this road is House bill HR-8, which mandates “universal background checks” and much more that is troubling. Passed 227-203, eight “Republicans” joined all but 1 Democrat in passage. Three of these eight were from Florida, and have been placed on our “RINO WATCH”:

  • Vern Buchanan – CD16 (Sarasota and Manatee counties)
  • Carlos Gimenez – CD26 (Monroe County)
  • Maria Salazar – CD27 (Miami Dade)
    • It should be noted that Gimenez, as well as Mario Diaz Balart (CD25 Miami-Dade, Collier) already had the “RINO Watch” distinction for their vote to strip Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments.

Our own Congressman Brian Mast (CD18) voted against this infringement on the second amendment, (see: “Mast Reverses Position on Background Checks” ) and so far has a perfect score on our 9 bill “RINO Watch” list.

For Brian’s explanation of his vote on HR-8, see: Rep. Mast on HR-8

For our current watchlist, see: RINO-WATCH

The Republican party seems to have abandoned south east Florida. As a resident of the Boca Delray area since 1982 I’ve seen a severe shift in the things Delray Beach government does. They have started painting political slogans on our streets for the hard-core leftists. Do you believe that there’s anyway we can bring back conservative values to Southeast Florida, or should we all just abandon it to the slavish radicals who are filling our area? In the last several years when I’ve gone to vote in Delray there has been someone in there who has gotten away with fraud on our election system. I mean every time I went to vote there was someone in there trying to game the system. And they usually succeeded. I see that if they’re doing it in my little precinct all the time that it is a big problem.

Delray Beach, at D+19 and an all Democrat City Commission, is a progressive city. By voter registration though, it is to the right of WPB (D+26), Boynton (D+24), and most of the central county municipalities. Voter registration in the county has been moving right though, and now stands at D+12.3, a full 2 points better than the D+14.4 we had in mid 2020. This follows the trends at the state level where Republicans recently passed Democrats in overall voter registration. Many cities are now right leaning, including Boca (R+3), Jupiter (R+13), and Palm Beach Gardens (R+7). Of the smaller locales, Palm Beach is R+20 and Tequesta is R+24. So there is hope, and the county is not monolithic.

Regarding voter fraud, there are ways to deal with it. One is to become a poll worker or poll watcher. If you would like to participate in those programs, send an email with your contact info to info@palmbeachcountyteaparty.org
