Jupiter: Ron DeSantis on the founding fathers’ views versus the administration’s

A lot of PBCTP members came out last night in the rainy weather for our second Jupiter/PBG chapter meeting this year.

During dinner, Mark Wohlschegel serenaded us with a medly of popular tunes.  Gary Summers, Chapter Leader kicked off the meeting with a rough overview of the evening’s agenda, and then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Mark accompanied us during the Star-Spangled Banner.

Mel Grossman, Co-Founder and Director, spoke about the importance of volunteerism and donations.  He talked about how we need to gear up for a Tax Day Rally in the spring, as well as a protest in front of Congresswoman and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s office at a future date.  Terry Brady, Co-Founder and Director and fund-raising chair, also talked about our raffles and the importance of donations to allow us to hold future events.  Next up was Barry Carson – who is starting a Jupiter/Tequesta Republican Organization.  The goal of the group is to have poll-watchers in each of the Jupiter/Tequesta precincts in the upcoming elections.  Similarly, Joe Madej, leading PBCTP’s GOTV efforts (Get Out The Vote) talked about plans for covering the entire county with poll-watchers.

Ron DeSantis, our keynote speaker, was in the Navy supporting Seal Team One.  When he came back from his active duty (he’s currently in the Reserves) he noted how so much that has happened during this administration throughout the country seems to be in direct opposition to what he and his military brethren were fighting for.  So he decided to write a book, Dreams from our Founding Fathers: First Principles in the Age of Obama.  DeSantis, in his talk, captured a lot of what the tea party knows as well – that the Constitution is being trampled.  DeSantis also announced that he has decided to run for Congress and he requested petitions from the audience.  He then took a few questions.

Gary ended the meeting with a prayer, and raffle results and members gathered to continue the discussion.

Obama is messing with my Religion

He is coming after my Religion

Obama has ignored my rights and the Constitution since he has taken office. His attitude is that he knows best as to what we the people need. He seems to thumb his nose at Congress and get away with it.

This time he has gone too far. When you try to mess with my religion, that is where I really get mad. It is not only the Catholics that are affected by this ruling; it is everyone no matter what your beliefs. If he can tell us that we must or we must not do something just because He thinks it is best, where will it stop? This country was based on a Constitution that protected the rights of everyone no matter of race or creed.
To best sum up I suggest you open the following links and read the stories for yourself.

If you feel the same way as I do, take action and contact your Priests, Rabbis and Ministers to let them know that we are all one and we stand together against this action.

PPP Event provides new GOP Primary Candidate insights

The joint Presidential Preference Profile Event between Palm Beach County Tea Party and South Florida 912 was held at the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach. We’d like to give special thanks to the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach for allowing us to use these beautiful facilities, and for making the arrangements. Thanks especially to Jimmy Scroggins, Senior Pastor and Linda Thornton, Senior Pastor Assistant and all who were involved. And thanks to Joy Stone, member of the congregation, and a member of both South Florida 912 and Palm Beach County Tea Party for making the initial contacts for us.

The event was intended to inform the grassroots activist members of both groups about the candidates in the upcoming January 31st Florida GOP Presidential Preference Primary, and to provide them with additional information to motivate them to join the campaigns for the final 3 weeks prior to the primary.

Pam Wohlschlegel, Chairman and County Coordinator for Palm Beach County Tea Party and Florida Chair for Tea Party Patriots. introduced David DiCrescenzo, Publisher/Editor in Chief of The Patriots Press and long-time South Florida 912 member, who led us in a heart-felt, moving invocation. Then Jason Shields, another long-time South Florida 912 member and leader, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Pam asked for a show of hands on how many undecideds were in the audience. Over 60% percent raised their hands. She spoke about the hard work ahead and how both PBCTP and South Florida 912 plan to work together to achieve success in 2012. Cooperation, Collaboration and Communication were to be the hallmarks of 2012!

Pam turned the podium over to Shannon Armstrong, Founder of South Florida 912.  Shannon asked the attendees how many went to the first 9/12 March on DC in 2009. Several in the audience had. She asked us to consider how much intensity we felt then and in the 2010 election campaign and did we feel that now? If not – we have to look within ourselves and regain that intensity as we head towards this most important election in 2012. She then introduced the Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Brian Mudd, Program Director 1290 WJNO & 1230 WBZT Financial Analyst & Co-host for The Morning Rush.

Brian also spoke motivationally – encouraging all of us to listen to the candidates’ positions and to pick our candidate, but to all get behind the eventual winner to ensure a win in 2012. He asked Fred Scheibl, long-time member of South Florida 912 and co-founder of Palm Beach County Tea Party, to explain what the evening was about. Fred gave the ground rules.

Each of the candidate representatives were to have 5 minutes to discuss their candidates values on:

  • Leadership – what makes a good leader, who they admire
  • Character – which attributes of character are most important, which guide their lives
  • Worldview – what is America’s role in the next 20 years, what are our top three economic problems, top three foreign policy challenges?
  • Quality of Solutions – What is the major advantages of your tax plan, your doctrine on foreign interventions, your approach to the size of government
  • Governing style – How will you get things done? How will you “change Washington?” How will you differ from Barack Obama? From George Bush?

The next portion of the agenda was to discuss Policy Positions and each surrogate could pick from any of the following areas and speak for another 5 minutes:  Tax Reform, Spending and Deficit, Size of Government, 10th Amendment, Health Care, Regulations, Trade/China, UN/NATO/EU, Arab Spring, Role of the Military.

Finally – the reps would get 3 minutes each to wrap up and solicit volunteers, after which Brian would moderate 10 minutes of questions.

Fred explained that the PPP Voters’ Guide was a combination of responses provided by each of the campaigns coupled with the research done by several Palm Beach County Tea Party and South Florida 912 members. The complete guide is 44 pages long, but the 4 page summary is also available online. Thanks to all of the members who participated – in particular Alex Berry, Richard Bock, Joe Burge, Barry Carson, Mary Farrell, Laura Henning, Gary Summers and Kim Winker.

Brian then introduced the candidate surrogates:

For Newt Gingrich: Tami Donnally, PBC Co-Chairman
For Ron Paul: Francisco Rodriguez, PBC Co-Coordinator
For Rick Perry: Craig Briscoe, Southwest FL Regional Director
For Mitt Romney: Fran Hancock, PBC Co-Chairman
For Rick Santorum: Starla Brown, Southeast FL Regional Coordinator

Each of the surrogates were volunteer activists with extensive experience. All should be congratulated on the amount of work they put into preparing for the Event and in their outstanding detailed and eloquent descriptions of their candidates Worldview and Policies. Thanks to all of you! Well done!

Ed Fulop – South Florida 912 Project organizer and long-time member served as our time-keeper. The representatives had clearly timed their presentations and most finished well-within their allotted timeframes!

Mid-way through the presentations, Brian pointed out the quality, depth and caliber of the positions of any and all of the GOP candidates when contrasted with the current administration. We should be proud to support any of these folks!

After the Q&As, Fred gave the current results of the member Surveys from both the South Florida 912 and Palm Beach County Tea Party websites. When tallied together, the tied overall winners were Congressman Paul and Senator Santorum. The survey remains on the websites and you are welcome to continue to take and/or modify your ratings of the candidates.

Finally, Jason Shields announced the 50:50 winner and the meeting concluded. Many stayed to talk with the various candidates representatives.

Thanks to all who participated. Please feel free to distribute the links to the complete Voters’ Guide and to hand-out/print-out the short version to all whom you think may benefit from it. We want informed voters at the upcoming Primary and hope these tools will assist you in your decisions.

Allen West Speaks at Boca Raton Chapter Meeting

Click
for a video of this event.

Now that the New Year fireworks have subsided, it is time for the Palm Beach County Tea Party to start 2012 with a few fireworks of our own!!! And, that we did on January 3rd, at the Boca Greens Country Club, for the Boca Chapter’s first Monthly Dinner/Speaker event of the year. Our guest was none other than Congressman Allen West- a political figure who has done much to galvanize and inspire the Tea Party, and the Congressman knows that the Tea Party has been highly influential in getting him to his chair in Washington, DC.

Colonel Allen West

An early cold front, with temperatures in the high 40’s to low 50’s greeted our diners and other attendees, with a beautiful sunset overlooking the golf course. Despite a huge crowd of over 200 people, the dinner line went quite smoothly. The sumptuous buffet included any number of delicacies, which seemed to be appreciated by all. This month we changed the raffle scenario somewhat, and tickets were sold with the ability to win various prizes that were donated by local businesses. This went over quite well, and we enjoyed record sales of raffle tickets.

Starting promptly at 7:00, Boca Chapter Coordinator Alex Berry began the proceedings with the Pledge of Allegiance. We were blessed to have Lou Galtiero sing the National Anthem for us. Alex Berry then explained who the Tea Party is, and how our organization is set up. After various announcements were made, County Coordinator and Co-Founder Pam Wohlschlegel took the podium to recognize other members of our group, as well as give people an idea of upcoming events.

Alex then introduced Allen West to a cheering crowd- he shook hands on his way to the podium to a standing ovation. It was clear that he is much admired amongst those in our Tea Party, even though we ask him some tough questions, and have kept him accountable throughout his time as an elected official. He must have sensed this, because the first topic he addressed was his vote on the National Defense Authorization Act. There has been much hysteria surrounding loose verbiage in the bill, which has led many to believe that it would allow any military personnel to indefinitely detain American citizens “suspected” of terrorist activity, or of being a “belligerent”. The Congressman read aloud, straight from the bill (HR 1540) from a specific page (I believe he said page 657), under section 1021, which says, “Authorities – Nothing in this section shall be construed to affect existing law or authorities relating to the detention of United States citizens, lawful resident aliens of the United States, or any other persons who are captured or arrested in the United States”. He then challenged the audience to cite for him any other part of the bill that would overrule or subjugate what he had read. He gave the audience a few seconds, and then said, “Thank You!”. It was a dramatic opening salvo to a power-packed speech, which was appreciated by the crowd.

His speech was short, so that he could field answers from the large crowd gathered. The questions were all well received and answered. There appears to be little doubt that the Congressman enjoys direct interaction with his constituency. The questions varied from Term Limits, to Immigration, to the Federal Reserve, and our National Debt. He handled each question with care and aplomb—and certainly gave the answers that the Tea Party wanted to hear regarding each one. West remains an ideological favorite among conservatives, despite some of his somewhat controversial votes in the past.

Before being whisked off to do an interview with Neil Cavuto, West circulated amongst the crowd after he concluded his last answer.

The raffle prizes were then drawn, and the enjoyment of like-minded fellowship carried on well into the evening, spilling out from the dining room, into the foyer, and out into the portico valet area on this chilly and crisp evening. We look forward to more great meetings in 2012 for our Boca Chapter—please INVITE YOUR FRIENDS to our next event, which will be on February 7th, 2012!!! Remember—we always have our Boca Chapter Dinner/Speaker event on the FIRST TUESDAY of every month, so mark your calendars! We now have ELEVEN months to make a difference for the next election, so please get involved if you aren’t yet, and STAY involved if you already are!

Jupiter/PBG Chapter Energized and Ready to Tackle 2012!

This was our first meeting at Abacoa Golf Club and we had a great turnout.  Several folks were new to the Palm Beach County Tea Party – thanks to all for coming!

Mark Wohlschlegel entertained the attendees while we enjoyed the buffet dinner.

Chapter leader, Gary Summers, kicked off the meeting at 7pm with a welcome, the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star-Spangled Banner.   Then Pam Wohlschlegel, Chairman and County Coordinator, took the podium.  Since there were new attendees, she stated the groups 3 tenets and talked about our upcoming meeting in Boca on Tuesday (tomorrow)  featuring Congressman Allen West,  and next week’s Presidential Preference Portfolio event on January 10th as well as the associated member survey and voter’s guide.  Pam also talked about the need for volunteers in all aspects of our operations.    She also mentioned the new organization that Barry Carson is kicking off – the new Jupiter/Tequesta Republican Organization.  The group’s goals will be to be an activist group, not a dinner-club – with each of the members expected to be REC members, or poll-watchers and to join campaigns.

Gary then introduced our guest speaker, Guido (George) Lombardi.  An acclaimed author and international expert, Mr. Lombardi is the Executive Director of the North Atlantic League, (www.northatlanticleague.us ) which promotes positive foreign relations between Italy, Israel, and the United States. In addition, he is a leader in the Tea Party Italy, which has brought the values of small government and more personal freedom to Italy.

Mr. Lombardi began by telling us about the new Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Monti – and how the first things he’s done is raise taxes even on the smallest of items.  The European Union (EU) is stomping on each of the 3 tea party tenets every day.  The speaker said that the Prime Minister of Hungary stated the desire for Hungary to leave the EU, and that there is tremendous resentment through-out the EU for the un-elected leadership of the EU called the European Commission – which is an entirely appointed body.  Lombardi stated that the EU was convinced to print money as a way out of their financial difficulties by our Secretary of the Treasury – Timothy Geithner.

He also stated that much of the Italian economy is ‘underground’ and thriving.  He spoke positively about Sylvio Berlusconi, who is a personal friend.  Mr. Lombardi felt that Berlusconi’s conservative government, and business background, drove a lot of the more conservative government that have won elections throughout the EU.

China’s impact on Italy was also a fascinating piece of Mr. Lombardi’s talk.  He described how small farms were being purchased by Chinese groups; then produce/farm products from other countries were delivered on Chinese ships to nearby ports and sold throughout the country in lieu of local production.  Struggling farmers were attracted to the large cash buyouts.

Several questions were asked by audience members.  Mr. Lombardi concluded his talk by saying that he was optimistic that we would all prevail if we stood up for what we believe!

Wellington Chapter hosts the Senatorial Candidate Forum

Palm Beach County Tea Party’s (PBCTP) Wellington Chapter hosted our Senatorial Candidate Forum on Monday, December 12th.  Most of the attendees partook of the tasty buffet at the Binks Forest Country Club prior to the beginning of the meeting.

Gina Rascati, Wellington Chapter Leader and PBCTP co-founder, kicked off the event with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then Mel Grossman, PBCTP Vice President and co-founder, spoke about December events – encouraging attendees to help work the upcoming Gun Show.  In addition, he said that he’d be starting rallies, once again, in the new year.  Iris Scheibl, one of the PBCTP co-founders, described the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary Portfolio Event on January 10th to be jointly hosted by PBCTP and South Florida 912.  Alex Berry, Boca Chapter Leader took the podium and kicked-off the events – first describing the tenets of the PBCTP, then doing the introductions.  The guest moderator for the event was Jim Sackett, former WPTV NewsChannel 5 news anchor; time-keeper was Gina Rascatti; and the participating candidates, in order of opening statements were:  Mike McCalister,  Deon Long, Ron McNeil and Marielena Stuart.

After opening remarks, each of the candidates rotated going first in responding to the questions with one minute responses.  The excellent questions ran the gamut of conservative issues:  Repeal Obamacare?  Which departments to scale back or get rid of?  How to reduce the National Debt?  Would you have voted for the Defense Authorization Bill?  Would you support removing the US from the UN, NAFTA, and NATO and expel the UN from NYC?  Would you refuse to sign any treaty that says the US contributes to global warming or climate change?  Would you work to reform the tax code and repeal the 16th amendment?  Would you work to repeal current executive orders that put restrictions on States’ rights and if so, which ones?  Would you follow current immigration law while striving for a long term solution?  Is the U.S. Constitution a living document?  Would you abolish or limit the number of Czars?  Would you support making the Bush tax cuts permanent?  If not, why not?  While many of the responses were similar – there were distinctions based on the personal viewpoint of each of the candidates.  McCalister brought his military background and other experiences into the mix, Long spoke of his economic outlook and the fair tax as a framework, McNeil cited his paradigm as a successful engineer and businessman, and Stuart her perspective as a Cuban immigrant who lived under Communism and described Agenda 21/Sustainability as socialism.

We had time for two great audience questions as well.  Would you support and pass term limits for the House and Senate? – leading to probably the funniest line of the night, given by McNeil – “Yes – two terms – one in office and one in prison!”, and What would you do with the Federal Reserve and what would you replace it with?

The candidates then closed with 5 minute closing statements.  Alex closed the meeting with calling the raffle.

It was a very informative event offering us an opportunity to learn more about these principled but lesser known candidates.  There is a long time until the August 2012 primary and any one of these fine folks could emerge as a strong Conservative candidate.  Thanks to all who attended.

Here’s What Barack Obama Might Say in a 2nd Inaugural Address

January 20, 2013
Washington, DC

Many pundits thought Barack Obama was going to be a one-term president. However, he and his 2012 team found much of the mojo of the 2008 campaign. That plus a largely friendly and protective media, clever use of the advantages of incumbency, an ill-timed gaffe by the Republican presidential nominee, a significant financial advantage, and a massive, union-led GOTV effort enabled Barack Obama to eke out a tiny popular vote plurality and a bit more comfortable Electoral College majority.

Here is the transcript of his just concluded Inaugural Address.

Editor’s note: A version of this piece originally appeared in the redstate.com blog in January 2011 under the author’s pseudonym “lockemadison”

My fellow Americans and my fellow global citizens everywhere,

I stand here today humbled and yet invigorated by the tasks before us, and grateful for the trust you have once again bestowed upon me. We celebrate today not the victory of a man, nor the victory of a party, but the victory of an idea, an idea whose time has finally come. The idea that we are all in this together, that every man, woman and child is important and deserving, regardless of where in our world they may live. All have the right to the fruits that result from the world’s resources and our ever improving technology. This is the idea of the Common Good, which means that we can only make progress as a species if some more fortunate people make a few sacrifices for the betterment of the whole. If we choose the path of selfishness, then this nation, this civilization, and indeed this planet will face great, unprecedented and rapidly increasing peril. But if we choose the path of using the power of government to implement policies that further the common good for all humankind while honoring Nature, then ultimately we will achieve a collective salvation for our planet.

All citizens of the globe have a right to be free from the ravages of unnatural climate change. All global citizens have a right to a living wage or to the provision of life’s basic necessities. And all have the right to adequate health care; it is especially unfortunate when this right is not honored for those in the prime of life, as has too often been the case in the past.

The Constitution wisely provides for the possibility of a second and final presidential term, a term of four years during which a president unencumbered by petty politics can pursue the common good without concern about popularity and reelection. Perhaps other presidents so situated may have nevertheless played some politics, whether to help their party or their personal popularity or both; but this president shall be focused solely on what is for the common good and thus expects that, in the full light of history, this Administration shall be judged as having fulfilled its promise to fundamentally transform the United States of America.

We began this fundamental transformation four years ago today. We have made progress towards making the ideals of progressivism a reality in America, but much remains to be done. As one who has authored two books, delivered countless speeches, given innumerable interviews, and twice run successfully for President of the United States, there can have been no doubt about my values of social justice and greater economic equality. Now that the American people have spoken at the ballot box and given their collective imprimatur to my values and four more years of this transformative presidency, we must not let anything stand in the way of fulfilling the promise and we shall finish the job. That is why I issued several key Executive Orders in the post-election period, and why more such orders shall be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.

To my fellow citizens of planet Earth: We pledge to work towards a lasting peace. Never again shall the United States take unilateral military action, unless of course we are first attacked directly by another nation. Should we believe there is a need for military action, we shall go before the United Nations and receive approval before acting. We pledge an end to the American arrogance that prevailed in the Twentieth Century and much of the first decade of this century. We pledge to continue to learn from you, particularly those of you who enjoy religious and cultural traditions different from America’s past. We pledge to honor those traditions in every region of the globe, whether Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and so forth. We pledge to support what is best for the region as a whole rather than a particular regime in an individual country. Nowhere in the world, including the United States, can the 1% be allowed to stand in the way of the welfare of the 99%. We pledge to move aggressively towards full implementation of Agenda 21. We pledge to do whatever it takes to roll back the specter of a warming planet.

To the peoples of poor nations everywhere: We cannot, unfortunately, substantially alter your plight in a matter of weeks or months, but know this: Help is on the way. This Administration shall not rest until there is a markedly greater degree of global equality. As part of this initiative, we will, effective immediately, commit to a 90% increase in our annual contribution to the United Nations. This will not solve the problem, but it is a step in the right direction. And we shall be taking more such steps soon with the funds we will save from substantially reduced defense spending.

To Americans of all races, regions, ages, religious and non-religious outlooks: We have been a lucky people to have had what we have had for so long; but the status quo is unsustainable. The world is in need, and must no longer be ruled by greed. To preserve much of what we have, we must be governed by a spirit of sharing and caring. Narrow interests must give way to the common good. Outmoded concepts of individualism and self-interest must yield to the spirit of service and sacrifice. The Age of American Hegemony is over. Global problems demand global solutions. Imperialism and jingoism and so-called American “exceptionalism” must give way to global cooperation and sharing and fairness and becoming a big part of the solution, instead of a big part of the problem.

The major domestic issues in the recent campaign were immigration, energy, and the related issues of spending, taxes and the size of the federal government. Allow me to briefly address each of these, but first a point about the tone of the recent campaign. The rhetoric became quite heated. This is understandable during a campaign. But for the good of the nation, we must move on. Yet some in the media, and this includes but is not limited to talk radio and the Internet, have not moved on. They are entitled to their views, but no purpose is served by the strident tone of their vitriolic rhetoric. Indeed, it is harmful to the common good of the nation. Thus we shall pursue two fronts to restore a civil tone to our national dialog.

First, the FCC shall increase its monitoring of the Internet and other suspect media, regardless of political persuasion. When deemed necessary, warnings shall be issued. If warnings go unheeded, web sites shall be shut down and licenses revoked. Second, our political debates had a far more civil tone when the media was dominated by the great newspapers and news magazines that helped make America great. Through no fault of their own, they have been seriously hurt by the rise of the Internet. Out of a sense of fairness, and of respect for traditional American media, and to help restore civility to America, we shall use some of the funds from an Internet tax to aid some of these traditional newspapers and magazines. It is critically important to restore a civil tone in America and thus avoid future tragedies. As John F. Kennedy said from this very spot exactly 52 years ago today: “Civility is not a sign of weakness.” We can make strong points and still make them civilly.

We have always been a nation of immigrants and so should we be now and in the future. It is time that we allow those who have labored for us to participate in our democracy and, with their children, to come out of the shadows and into the safe sunlight of American democracy. Accordingly ICE is being downsized and reorganized. Furthermore, my Administration shall take steps to assure that there is no denial of voting or other rights to any adult immigrant, regardless of current technical legal status, and also to assure that there is no such denial to any non-immigrant, including persons of color.

As for energy, all thinking people know that my system of cap and trade is the only viable solution. As I have said before and repeated again earlier in this address: We must do whatever it takes to roll back the specter of a warming planet. Otherwise our children face an unprecedented disaster.

Government spending is necessary for the good of the economy. Of course, there are a few places where savings can and will be achieved, especially in defense. Much government spending is for government employees, who are necessary to carry out this Administration’s programs and policies. To keep these valuable people, we must reward them accordingly. That is why there can be no further reduction in taxes. Indeed, we will soon unveil a more fair tax policy that will raise taxes on those in higher brackets of income and will impose a tax on retirees who have a private nest egg that is larger than they could reasonably spend in their remaining years, according to actuarial studies.

We must mature in our thinking and not cling to the past and its outmoded concepts. The centuries-old way of doing things will not work for any of us in this new age of an ordered world.

We now truly have a rendezvous with destiny. A great collective opportunity is ours, an opportunity to change and modernize America and to help better the world. Let us not waste it, let us not shrink from the challenge of embracing this opportunity and advancing economic and social justice here and around the globe.

Thank you, and let us move forward quickly to achieve the Common Good for all citizens of the world.

Wellingon Chapter discusses Term Limits

Gina Rascati, Wellington Chapter Leader, began our November meeting by reporting on the State Tea Party Convention in Daytona Beach.  Pam Wohlschlegel, president of Palm Beach County Tea Party and state co-ordinator for Tea Party Patriots, announced the senatorial forum for our December meeting.

Philip Blumel, our keynote speaker, was acknowledged as the leader of the effort to set term limits for the Palm Beach County Commission.  He is also the national director of  US Term Limits and discussed the importance of term limits and how voters overwhelmingly approve term limits whenever it’s on the ballot.  The lawmakers are the ones that oppose it.  But, Philip ascerted that there are way more of “us” than “them”.

Announcements:  Pam mentioned two events for this week – Tuesday, 11/15, Anita MonCrief – Acorn Whistleblower/Brandon Darby – FBI Informant; and a Herman Cain Rally on Wednesday 11/16.  Terry Brady – co-founder, mentioned the upcoming Fashion Show Luncheon.  Mike Lamayer, candidate for Fl. Senate District 25 was also present.

Blumel’s mother won the 50/50 raffle-$60.00.  Binks Forest provided a scrumptious buffet (salad, rolls, green beans, carrots, barbecue ribs, mashed potatoes, beef sirloin and chocolate cake for desert.  We ended the meeting well nourished and informed.

Senator George LeMieux Anchors Jupiter Meeting

The November Jupiter/PBG chapter meeting got started by new chapter leader Gary Summers who led us in a prayer, the Pledge and the Anthem.

Following his appearance at the Boca Chapter earlier this month, former Senator George LeMieux joined us in Jupiter. Of all the candidates in this race, Senator LeMieux is the only one with Washington experience having been appointed to the position following the early departure of Senator Martinez. As he pointed out, in a head to head match against Bill Nelson, he has a record that can be compared point by point and shows him to have solid conservative credentials. He would like to return to Washington as a true partner to Marco Rubio.

The Senator spent some time on his “Four Freedoms” plan – Freedom to work, Freedom from debt, Freedom from foreign dependence, and Freedom to pursue the American Dream. It is a solid framework and compelling value proposition. He then took an assortment of questions from the audience ranging from the economy and jobs, deficit reduction, foreign policy and the threats facing us in these most dangerous times.

Also present at the meeting was a good showing of local candidates, including Tequesta Councilman Calvin Turnquest who is running for Bill Synder’s seat in FH82, Hal Valeche and Laura Hanley for county commission district 1, and Lowell Levine who has filed for the county School Board.

In other business, Pam Wohlschlegel covered the Daytona Tea Party convention that many members attended, Terry Brady described the upcoming Fundraising events, and Mel Grossman pushed the crowd to get active.

Senator Nelson Calls for Investigation of Conservative Activists

Some of you may have received this letter from our Democrat Senator. He is claiming that

“..a handful of super-rich conservative activists are behind an orchestrated effort to keep millions of seniors, younger voters and minorities from casting ballots next year…”

and he is calling for a Senate investigation to

“..see if Florida’s law was part of a plan that led to similar voting law changes in more than a dozen other states this year.” and then “.. I have asked the Justice Department to look into who’s behind these changes. “

This is chilling. Where was Senator Nelson when Acorn was subverting the election process all across the country and Black Panthers were intimidating voters at the polls. This is a part of an organized effort to weaken our election laws and all the more reason why everyone who is able should volunteer as a poll worker or watcher to help keep elections fair.
