Author David Bego Explains the Dangers Posed by SEIU in 2012

The Jupiter/PBG Chapter of PBCTP met last night at the Double Tree Hotel. Anita Carbone, out-going Chapter Leader, started the meeting with an Invocation, the Pledge and a playing of the National Anthem. Prior to our keynote speaker, Mel Grossman spoke about upcoming Rallies and the Gold Rush Tea Party Social fund-raiser. Terry Brady also spoke about fund-raising and the upcoming Fashion Show and Anita, Mel and Terry all stressed the importance the donations serve to putting on debates and other educational awareness events. Iris Scheibl spoke about activism and encouraged the attendees to participate in the Presidential Primary campaigns for a candidate of their choice.

Pam Wohlschlegel, County Co-ordinator, made a few announcement about the PBCTP newsletter, and introduced our in-coming new Jupiter/PBC Chapter leader – Gary Summers – who recently moved to the area. Gary and his wife will serve as co-leaders of the Chapter. Thank you Anita for being instrumental in the founding of PBCTP and in everything you’ve done to make the Jupiter/PBG chapter a success! And welcome, Gary!

Our keynote speaker was David Bego – author of “The Devil at My Doorstep”. Mr. Bego recounted his multi year battle against SEIU. He described SEIU’s strategy as one of a ‘thousand tiny cuts’ and showed how SEIU’s long term approach wears down 95% of targeted small and large businesses. They attack all aspects of an entity – the owners, the management, the customers and the employees with the intent of unionizing the business – not so much with the hope of bettering the plight of the workers, but to gain access to the union dues which can then be used to fund campaign coffers. David described the inter-relationship between SEIU, President Obama, Acorn and the Democrat party – all focused on re-election in 2012 and showed a couple of videos highlighting then candidate Obama talking to SEIU members and former SEIU president, Andy Stern (who has visited the White House more than any other person) relating their role in the election. The author made it clear that he never had a goal of writing a book or being on a book tour – but that he wanted us to all be aware of the challenges, strategy and tactics that will be used in the upcoming 2012 election cycle. His emotions came through as it was clear that he loved his employees, and he loves his country!

The meeting concluded with the drawing and candidate announcements.

Labor Day ‘BBQ’ and the Rooneys Pack the House

The Jupiter/PBG Chapter of PBCTP went indoors for our BBQ, since we were expecting hot outdoor temperatures. Good thing, as an early evening downpour would surely have made for uncomfortable conditions. Over 200 patriots turned out – roughly a quarter of whom were new to the Tea Party. A lot of volunteers helped with check-in and registration, raffle and t-shirt donations and keeping things running smoothly – thanks to all!

Mark Wohlschlegel and his band performed during the buffet dinner. Anita Carbone, Chapter Director, kicked off the meeting and then had Representative Pat Rooney do the invocation, after which Congressman Tom Rooney led the crowd in the Pledge, and the National Anthem. Anita described the agenda and upcoming meetings and introduced Pam Wohlschlegel, PBCTP Chair. Pam recounted some nasty quotes of the day – describing Tea Party members as something other than ‘workers’, SOB’s who should be taken out (by Jimmy Hoffa), and Barbarians (by Vice-President Biden). Pam introduced Fred Scheibl, who described the CC3 project, the upcoming PBC Budget Hearings, and future calls to action. Anita then kicked off the keynote speakers – Representative Pat Rooney (FL District 83) who then introduced his brother, Congressman Tom Rooney (16th Congressional District, FL).

Pat spoke about redistricting and the upcoming legislative session. Tom addressed what he felt were critical issues facing the country, including foreign policy and the middle east and the impact on Homeland Security. He spent quite awhile describing the Debt Limit vote and the failure of the US Senate and Majority Leader Reid (D – Nevada) to bring any bills to the floor. The impasse on progress in Congress will remain, unless the Senate acts, or until the 2012 elections when it is vital to elect someone other than President Obama and to take control of the Senate.

After both gentlemen spoke, Anita introduced elected and former elected officials in the room – Hal Valeche (former PBG City Councilman), Bill Diamond (Palm Beach Town Councilman) and David Levy (Mayor, Palm Beach Gardens). The mics were then turned to the audience, which had a lot of good questions spanning topics of Immigration, spending, military bases, Libya, unacceptable numeric nutrient water quality EPA actions, taxation, etc). Anita concluded the meeting by having candidates stand up and introduce themselves. We had: Mike Lamayer, running for FL Senate and Hal Valeche, Albert Key, Laura Hanley and David Levy – all running for Palm Beach County Commission District 1. There is at least one other candidate for this position – so it should be an interesting race!

Join us for upcoming meetings – the next Jupiter/PBG meeting will be on October 3rd featuring “The Devil at My Doorstep” author David Bego.

Jupiter/PBG Chapter Kicks Off with Overflow Crowd

Following successful launches of the Boca and Wellington chapters last week, the Palm Beach County Tea Party launched in Palm Beach Gardens with a 400+ overflow crowd to hear keynote speaker Congressman Allen West, CD22.

After the debt ceiling debate and the Congressman’s vote for the Boehner “deal”, many tea party members were questioning the strategy and wondered if he had taken a walk on the dark side. They were willing to listen to an explanation though and it appeared that most left satisfied. In her introduction, PBCTP founder Pam Wohlschlegel asked the crowd for a show of hands of who would NOT have voted for this deal and most of the room responded.

Not a stranger to conflict or live fire, Allen West stepped into the breach and led off with the importance of reading both Sun Tzu (“The Art of War”) and Alinsky (“Rules for Radicals”). He explained that we are engaged in the “long war” and cannot expect total victory in 7 months. Laying it out in the context of Gettysburg and the delaying action in Buford’s defense of Cemetary Ridge, he explained that we must wait for the arrival of the Army of the Potomac in November 2012. Taking the Senate and the White House is the means by which we must reverse the damage that has already been done by 2 1/2 years of the Obama Administration.

Prior to the meeting, Congressman West had replied to our questions about the debt ceiling in great detail. (See Our Congressmen Respond) and this lengthy treatise should be required reading prior to criticism of his position. We asked one of his staffers how the response was prepared and were told simply “Oh, Allen wrote it himself.” Truly a representative that does his homework and eats his peas.

George Bennett of the Palm Beach Post covered the meeting – read his account in Palm Beach Gardens tea party crowd shows West love even if they did hate his debt ceiling vote

Term Limits

S. J. Res 11

Constitutional Amendment – Limits Members of the House of Representatives to three terms and Members of the Senate to two terms.

Marco Rubio of Florida co-sponsored this bill.  We all talk about it.  We all want it.  We all believe career politicians create more problems because of it.

People are flawed and power corrupts.  The longer people stay in their elected positions the more flawed and corrupt they become.  History has proved this time and time again.  Our country proves it to us on a daily basis.

Please keep this in mind and act now to stop this on a local level.
