My Letter to the PBC BCC on Resolution Regarding Executive Order

Here is what I sent to the Palm Beach County Board of  County Commissioners re: Agenda Item 4A-2 on the 11/3 evening BCC Mtg Agenda.  I encourage you to attend the meeting, call or send an email to the Commissioners.

Dear Mayor and Commissioners:

I don’t recall any of you running for your current positions as Palm Beach County Commissioners on a platform of immigration reform. And for the most part, you refrain from being overtly political while on the dais. So why are you spending County staff resources on producing this resolution? Is the County so flush with cash and do we have so few county issues that this is a priority?

How immigration reform should be accomplished is not a County issue, nor are U.S. Constitutional issues. When AG Bondi joined the Texas vs United States lawsuit on behalf of Florida she stated:

“This lawsuit is not about immigration, rather this lawsuit is about President Obama — yet again — overstepping the power granted to him by our United States Constitution. The President repeatedly said he would not violate the law, then decided to do just that. The powers granted to the President are expressly laid out in the United States Constitution, yet President Obama has decided to ignore those parameters. We need to fix our system of immigration, but willfully turning a blind eye to the inconvenience of law and rule is not the path to a remedy, but a prescription for unwarranted presidential overreach.”

The resolution in Agenda Item 4A-2 would not result in Florida withdrawing from the lawsuit, nor would specious arguments on the economic impact on Palm Beach County or compassionate merits of the President’s Executive Order, have any impact on the Constitutional issue which is the basis for the lawsuit. Just because other municipalities have done so, does not make it right.

I can only assume that since five of you are running for office: two for Congress and three for County positions, that your rationale can only be grand-standing and pandering to a set of constituents.

Please desist. Withdraw or vote NO on item 4A-2, and leave your politicking for outside the Commission Chambers!

$725M County Budget Proposal Largest in History

The county budget proposal, to be discussed in the first budget workshop on Tuesday, June 9 at 6pm, proposes flat millage at 4.7815 producing $57.5M in new taxes on rising valuations.
With property values having returned to 89% of the peak seen in 2007, this budget is actually $36M higher than the record set that year, making it the highest dollar value budget in the history of the county.

Poll Watchers Needed – A Letter from the Rick Scott Campaign

Governor Scott’s re-election campaign is in the process of recruiting poll watchers for Early Voting and Election Day for the November 4, 2014 General Election. We appreciate your time and effort as a poll watcher for the Republican Party of Palm Beach County in past elections and now we need your help again for the 2014 General Election.

We need tons of volunteers to fill all the polling locations on Election Day as well as the early voting sites in Palm Beach County. You will play a vital part in protecting the fundamental constitutional rights of all Florida’s citizens—regardless of race, color, ethnicity, or political persuasion. I know I do not have to tell you how important this election is. We have over 15 Early Voting sites and approximately 500 Election Day polling locations to cover in Palm Beach County, so the success of our Poll Watcher Program for the 2014 General Election depends on you. The Democrats will have people at every pollinglocation and we need to counter this and can only accomplish this with your participation. Please reply to my email with your name, address, daytime phone number, and date of birth. The Elections Office needs your date of birth to certify you.

Thank you in advance for your help and contribution to our success in the 2014 General Election. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Are referendums the way to get our agenda moving forward ?

See: Initiative & Referendum Institute

I think this would be a great way to get some really good things passed. We could bypass the logjam in the capital. I think a good start would be mandating e-verify and enforcing immigration laws similar to the way they did in Alabama and Arizona.

Is anyone interested in having a meet up or online chat about this ?

Action Alert – Defeat Seven/50 at the PBC County Commission

2/4/2014 ACTION ALERT REMINDER

FOR PATRIOTS OPPOSED TO UN AGENDA 21 A.K.A. SEVEN/50

Our Challenge! We must have hundreds of Palm Beach County residents to support our speakers in our quest to defeat seven/50.

ACTION RECOMMENDED:

Join fellow Palm Beach County residents as we support the American Coalition 4 Property Rights in their effort to defeat 7/50 in Palm Beach County. We have been challenged by our friends in Indian River County, Pt. St Lucie County and now Martin County. The results speak for themselves: Victory in Indian River and Pt. St. Lucie Counties, and hopefully in Martin County. We had record crowds at all of above county meetings, including 350 people cheering on our speakers at the commission meeting in Pt. St. Lucie. Surely we can top the 350 supporters when we all show up on Feb. 4th at the meeting.

Please wear RED to show our solidarity.
