HOW TO PROTECT THE KIDS

Most of the television and radio talking heads (except some of the conservatives) have missed to obvious and most effective way to protect the school kids.

They suggest solutions without doing the simplest sanity check to see if their solution would have helped the kids and teachers in Newtown CT.

Examples of ineffective “solutions”:

1. Make it harder for people to buy guns.
But the alleged shooter did not buy the guns, he used someone else’s.

2. Ban assault guns.
But the alleged shooter used a handgun.

The obvious approach is to do what the celebrities themselves (as well as politicians, banks, religious organizations and armored cars) do for protection; provide an armed guard.

People contemplating mayhem tend to avoid places where there are armed guards who might thwart their plans.

It is as plain as the nose on your face.

And while we are at it, there are other places that need armed guards such as shopping centers and other places where there could be a large number of victims.

THE 2012 ELECTION CHALLENGES

Now that the 2012 election is history, it is instructive for Tea Party people to consider what is next.

While most of the politicians who were elected were opposed to the Tea Party principles of Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility, and Free Markets, this is not a time for the Tea Party to despair. After an appropriate period of licking our wounds and mourning a lost opportunity, we need to pick ourselves up and proceed to the next challenge.

The losing Presidential candidate did not have as one of his goals the restoration of the Constitutional Republic given to us by our Founding Fathers. Few people have that goal. One of our challenges is to increase the number that do so we get more attention from the decision makers.

We need to redouble our efforts to meet the challenges to give our children and grandchildren the country the 18th century colonists envisioned.

Some of the challenges are imbedded in the national culture and will require a long term effort to overcome.

Many citizens were deprived of the opportunity to understand the government our Founding Fathers gave us. They do not distinguish between a democracy and a republic. They do not appreciate many of the details of the Constitution. We will need an educational program to improve the citizens’ understanding of their government. We need to examine what is being taught in our schools, the adequacy of the textbooks, and the training of the teachers.

Other challenges are more short-term and will also require significant effort.

Conservative leaders who were elected this year need our support. We need to do all we can to help them in their efforts to help achieve Tea Party principles.

Less conservative leaders who were elected need to hear from us as they undertake their responsibilities and make decisions that will impact the type of government we have.

Legislation to move us closer to our objectives will need to be drafted and pursued.

And for the very short term, we need to be vigilant to protect against the damage a lame duck government might foist upon us.

And the next election in two years will be here too quickly. We need to find conservatives who are willing to serve and help them get elected. The earlier this process is started, the higher the probability of success.

With the most aggressive big-government, tax-and-spend, anti-capitalist President in the last half-century now reelected, we surely cannot rest.

The significant challenges standing in the way of the Tea Party reaching its goals must not deter us.

The NFL Analogy

The National Football League attempting to have a successful season with amateur officials managing the games is analogous to the country trying to be a success in the world when managed by amateurs.

Frustrate the Terrorists!

Since the U.S. Government is unable to protect our embassies from being overrun by terrorists, the least we can do is provide the embassies with non-combustible flags so all we will have to watch on TV is terrorists unsuccessfully trying to burn our flag.

The Commander-in-Chief is AWOL

There is no record of intelligence briefings for Obama the week before the embassy attacks

According to a GAO Report the President has only attended 43.8% of the briefings since taking office.

The Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) provided to the President by the CIA the first thing every morning provides insight into what is happening around the world, information on what to expect in the coming days, an analysis of the collected intelligence and the significance of the events.

A President who decides to skip the PDB is a President who has no need for it because it is a President who would not know what to do with the information once it was received and a President who consequently, by inaction, leaves the country vulnerable to our enemies and our citizens exposed to danger.

Amnesty’s Unanswered Questions

On June 15, 2012 Obama announced he will unilaterally, without authorization from Congress,
permit hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to remain in U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has explained how they will enforce this new policy.

The new policy will apply to any individual who satisfies all of the following:

1. Came to the United States under the age of sixteen;

2. Has continuously resided in the United States for at least five years preceding June 15, 2012 and is present in the United States on June 15, 2012;

3. Was in school on June 15, 2012, has graduated from high school, has obtained a general education development certificate, or is an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States;

4. Has not been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor offense, multiple misdemeanor offenses, or otherwise poses a threat to national security or public safety;

5. Is not above the age of thirty.

The policy applies to undocumented illegals. Unlike your cocker spaniel, “undocumented” means they have no papers.

When such undocumented aliens show up later to seek a permit to stay, how will DHS answer the following questions?

1. How old is the alien? It is unlikely any of them carried a birth certificate when passing through the barbed wire.

2. When did they arrive? Without knowing their age and when they arrived, how will DHS determine they arrived before age 16?

3. When they show up later, how will DHS know they were here on June 15, 2012 and were here for at least five years?

4. With no identification how will DHS determine they graduated from high school, obtained a general education development certificate, or is an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States?

5. With no identification how will DHS determine they have not been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor offense, or multiple misdemeanor offenses either somewhere here or in their home country?

6. How will DHS decide if they pose a threat to national security or public safety?

Considering the administration’s desire to let them all in, perhaps they will just give them a simple form to sign and tell them to check the following boxes;

[ ] I was under the age of sixteen when I came to the United States.
[ ] I have continuously resided in the United States for at least five years preceding June 15, 2012.
[ ] I was present in the United States on June 15, 2012.
[ ] I was in school on June 15, 2012, or I graduated from high school, or I obtained a general education development certificate, or I am an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States.
[ ] I have not been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor offense, multiple misdemeanor offenses, or otherwise poses a threat to national security or public safety.
[ ] I am not above the age of thirty.

That will save DHS the effort of having to authoritatively determine the eligibility. After all, they surely can be trusted. Would anyone who went to all that trouble to get here actually misrepresent themselves?
