Smart Meters Part II

Smart Meters Part II

I wanted to wait until I had written confirmation from FPL but in light of the massive roll out of Smart Meters on Floridian’s homes I am posting the current information.

First and foremost I have been put on what FPL is calling a delay list. It is a start. While the Occupy Wall Street protesters are out protesting, I wonder if they realize Smart Meters are taking over their homes. Do they understand who the new big players really are? One woman I know has referred to FPL as the “Utility Barons”. Like taxes and healthcare, if something affects every man, woman and child should not there be open discussions? Mandatory installations on everyone’s home does not sound like the America I grew up in. Will all this data flowing freely back and forth prove to be unhealthy? My Dad always said for answers look to nature. If you have already have Smart Meters on your homes watch your pets especially dogs, cats and birds for any changes in health or behaviors.

I am by no means an expert on this matter and much of the technical information is beyond my understanding, but I will stand firm on the principal that when it comes to our individual homes what comes into them is a fundamental right. Why is there no Opt Out option? What is the rush? Why are utility companies pushing so hard to install a smart meter on every house, apartment, retail and commercial building in this country. Look no further than $2 trillion dollar “Smart Grid”. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2386828,00.asp#fbid=Sm7eS3qXZEG and http://www.smartmeters.com/the-news/smart-grid-news/2703-washington-electric-cooperative-received-smart-grid-loan.html

Smart Meter and Rare Earth Metals: Not really rare.

“Tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold are essential to the performance of our SMART technology used in cell phones, laptops, digital cameras and other high-end consumer electronics. These minerals are sourced from eastern Congo, home to the deadliest conflict in the world since World War II. Over 5 million people have died, and rape is epidemic. The armed militias and soldiers committing atrocities in Congo make hundreds of millions of dollars per year on the illicit trade in Congo’s minerals. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2011/sep/02/congo-blood-gold-mobile-phones-video?CMP=twt_iph
